Gaining perspectives

Being limited by recovery from my knee surgery,  I've learned to look around and appreciate more of what's around me.  There truly are photographs to be made everywhere.

Sentenced to relaxation

Usually I'm a busy body.  Always got something on my mind,  something that needs to be done.  Multitasking.  Now I'm confined,  for the most part,  to a chair.  It's a difficult adjustment and I'm sure many will cry out in jealousy,  "what are you complaining about?"

No complaining.  Just an adjustment.  So I found a nice place outside.  Put my feet up.  Put some smooth jazz on the radio and stared up at the sky.

Ok. ..... it'll take some getting used to,  but I think I'll manage.  :-)

Well, here I am. ...

My blog.......

It's been a long time.

Photography has taken a back seat in recent years.  I still love it and will make an occasional frame now and then.

I've been cycling much more than shooting and now that I'm 40, fitness had become a priority of mine. The bike is a great way to accomplish this and also gives me time with friends.

Recently,  it's all been on hold with a meniscus tear.  And being confined to a couch,  I figured I'd reinvent my blog. Along with my occasional photography,  I think I'll add more of life.  My cycling,  of course,  but some day to day musings of being a husband,  a father and just an average blue collar guy.

Wow! It's been a long time since I posted.....

Figured I would get this thing fired up again whether anyone reads it or not. LOL

Took a drive out to Lake Erie to try to take advantage of an overcast day. Figured the clouds, rocks and water would create some nice textures for black and white work.

Pinckney, Michigan in Winter

6:30 am, 4 degrees F. Headed out on a Winter hike with a friend in Pinckney, Michigan. We quickly adjusted to the early morning temps as the sun came over the horizon. It afforded some beautiful, low-angled light to paint the landscape with.

Big Sky

Ever feel like you just want to capture everything in the frame? I just love big skies and sometimes the camera just doesn't seem "big" enough or the lens "wide" enough. This particular sunset shot showcases Michigan's rural back-country setting in Winter.

Finally some snow........

After seeing the color brown return to Southeast Michigan after a mid-winter warmup, we are finally under a blanket (albeit a thin one) of snow. Took the opportunity to get out and grab a few shots. This one in particular was taken at one of my favorite places to shoot, Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton, MI. The snow really started to come down making it a challenge to keep flakes off the lens long enough to get my shots.
